ABOUT THE PIECE

Handwoven sheep's wool cushion crafted on a pedal loom, following a traditional technique from Teotitlán del Valle. The geometric design is built directly into the weave, creating a firm and well-defined surface. The composition unfolds over an intense orange base, featuring a central motif in deeper shades that provide contrast and depth. The different nuances are achieved through variations in the dyeing process, generating a subtle transition between warm tones. The result is a balanced and vibrant piece, where the color integrates fully into the fiber and reflects the living character of the natural pigment.

Technique

Flatwoven on a pedal loom. The wool is spun and pre-dyed using natural pigments, and the pattern is built directly during the weaving process—without any subsequent embroidery or appliqués—honoring the traditional textile methods of the region.

Care & Longevity

Wool is a naturally resilient and durable fiber. Regular vacuuming or gently shaking the cushion is recommended.
For spot cleaning, clean only the affected area with cold water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive products and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Note

Every cushion is one of a kind. Slight variations in color, texture, or pattern are inherent to the artisanal process and form an essential part of its value.
