ABOUT THE PIECE
Hand-woven sheep's wool cushion made on a pedal loom, following a traditional technique from Teotitlán del Valle. The geometric design is built directly into the weave, creating a firm, compact, and highly defined surface.
In this piece, the lemon-yellow tone stands out against a warm orange background. The color is achieved through a combination of cochineal and pericón, with a small touch of black sapote (zapote negro) that adds depth and balances the chromatic composition.
The result is a luminous and vibrant cushion, where the colors interact with each other and reflect the richness of the natural dyeing process, integrated directly into the fiber.
Conceived as a functional decorative piece, it brings energy, contrast, and an artisanal accent to contemporary or nature-inspired interiors.
Technique
Flatwoven on a pedal loom. The wool is spun and pre-dyed using natural pigments, and the pattern is built directly during the weaving process—without any subsequent embroidery or appliqués—honoring the traditional textile methods of the region.
Care & Longevity
Wool is a naturally resilient and durable fiber. Regular vacuuming or gently shaking the cushion is recommended.
For spot cleaning, clean only the affected area with cold water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive products and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Note
Every cushion is one of a kind. Slight variations in color, texture, or pattern are inherent to the artisanal process and form an essential part of its value.
