ABOUT THE PIECE
Handwoven sheep's wool cushion crafted on a pedal loom, following a traditional technique from Teotitlán del Valle. The geometric design is built directly into the weave, resulting in a firm and well-defined surface.
This piece originates from a preliminary digital color proposal, which was organically adapted during the dyeing and weaving process. The final hues shift towards warmer oranges and earth tones, responding to the natural behavior of the pigment and a conscious design decision made directly on the loom.
The result is a balanced and lively composition, where the color seamlessly integrates into the fiber, displaying slight variations that beautifully reflect the artisanal process.
Technique
Flatwoven on a pedal loom. The wool is spun and pre-dyed using natural pigments, and the pattern is built directly during the weaving process—without any subsequent embroidery or appliqués—honoring the traditional textile methods of the region.
Care & Longevity
Wool is a naturally resilient and durable fiber. Regular vacuuming or gently shaking the cushion is recommended.
For spot cleaning, clean only the affected area with cold water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive products and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
