ABOUT THE PIECE

Hand-woven sheep's wool cushion made on a pedal loom, following a traditional technique from Teotitlán del Valle. The geometric design is built directly into the weave, creating a firm, compact, and highly defined surface. In this piece, the color is obtained from seasonal fruit, harvested at a time of year when it yields a high concentration of pigment. This process results in a firm and stable color that does not fade with washing and is deeply integrated into the fiber.

The palette ranges across dark coffee and warm brown tones, where the pigment's own color stands out and interacts with the natural nuances of the wool. The result is a sober and deep composition that highlights the conscious use of the fruit both as food and as a source of natural dye.
Conceived as a functional decorative piece, this cushion brings warmth, depth, and an artisanal accent to contemporary or nature-inspired interiors.

Technique

Flatwoven on a pedal loom. The wool is spun and pre-dyed using natural pigments, and the pattern is built directly during the weaving process—without any subsequent embroidery or appliqués—honoring the traditional textile methods of the region.

Care & Longevity

Wool is a naturally resilient and durable fiber. Regular vacuuming or gently shaking the cushion is recommended.
For spot cleaning, clean only the affected area with cold water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive products and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Note

Every cushion is one of a kind. Slight variations in color, texture, or pattern are inherent to the artisanal process and form an essential part of its value.
