ABOUT THE PIECE
Handwoven sheep's wool cushion crafted on a pedal loom, following a traditional technique from Teotitlán del Valle. The geometric design is integrated directly into the weave, creating a firm and well-defined surface.
This piece is characterized by a design full of movement, where colors shift and intertwine across the fabric. The chromatic base is rooted in indigo, paired with orange and green tones achieved through the beautiful interplay between cochineal, indigo, and an ecru hue derived from avocado seed.
The result is a dynamic and fluid composition where color is built in layers, revealing the vitality of the natural pigment fully integrated into the fiber.
Technique
Flatwoven on a pedal loom. The wool is spun and pre-dyed using natural pigments, and the pattern is built directly during the weaving process—without any subsequent embroidery or appliqués—honoring the traditional textile methods of the region.
Care & Longevity
Wool is a naturally resilient and durable fiber. Regular vacuuming or gently shaking the cushion is recommended.
For spot cleaning, clean only the affected area with cold water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive products and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Note
Every cushion is one of a kind. Slight variations in color, texture, or pattern are inherent to the artisanal process and form an essential part of its value.
