ABOUT THE PIECE
This rug is handwoven by Rocío and her family in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, on a pedal loom, honoring the Zapotec tradition of flatwoven wool.
The wool is spun and pre-dyed using cochineal for the reddish tones, local plants for the ochres and yellows, and indigo for the blues. The color is integrated directly into the weave through thread changes during the weaving process, creating a rich and authentic chromatic composition without the use of subsequent embroidery or appliqués.
Every piece is unique. Slight variations in color, texture, or pattern are part of its beauty and a true reflection of its handmade nature.
